Resist the Americas Business Forum and the 7th Summit of the FTAA by Indymedia Ecuador
(QUITO, ECUADOR) -- Two months before the Americas Business Forum
and the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Free Trade Area of the Americas
(FTAA), preparations for the “reception” of those who are laying the
foundation for the second colonization of the Americas are gathering
force. Bit by bit, grassroots organizations, collectives, and networks
from Quito and across the country are elaborating plans, from
counter-summits and forums to actions in the streets. |

CALL TO ACTION
On October 31st, the seventh summit of the Free Trade Area of the
Americas will take place in Quito, Ecuador, home turf for what are
perhaps the strongest social movements in the Americas. Ecuador's
indigenous, campesino, labor, womens', environmental, and youth
organizations have vowed to shut the summit down, and are calling for
solidarity actions across the continent. |

Context and Update on the Quito Mobilization
The FTAA meetings in Quito Ecuador in late October are global
capital`s most important meetings of the year, and a powerful coalition
of indigenous people, campesinos, and workers are mobilizing to shut it
down. |
